A New Cancer Vaccine is Ready! Russia will start human trials and will be free

Published : 12 Aug 2025

Russia announced that it successfully developed a new cancer vaccine that is a major medical breakthrough. Supposedly, it will enter human trials soon and, if proven successful, will be offered to the public (for free!) in 2025. This vaccine will not prevent cancer, but will treat a cancer patient and is supposed to stop the growth and spread of the disease.

Russia has successfully developed a Vaccine for the Treatment of Cancer

Cancer is one of the most lethal, life-threatening diseases that scare cancer patients and their families everywhere. The reasons are simple: cost, and there isn’t one definitive cure. In the last couple of decades, however, Russia has accomplished a great deal in the field of oncology with a vaccine aimed at saving the lives of the cancer patients.

We have heard from several sources that the vaccine will be free to the Russian citizens once trials are completed successfully. Remember, this is NOT a preventive vaccine; it will NOT stop cancer from happening, it will treat patients who are affected.

Human Trials Beginning Soon

In the coming months, the cancer vaccine will begin Human Trials, according to TASS, the Russian news agency. The human trials will take place at two of Russia’s leading oncology centers, the Hertson Research Institute, and the Blokhin Cancer Center in Moscow.

The vaccine is being created by the Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology, which is in charge of producing the Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine. Director of the Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology, Alexander Gintsburg, confirmed that the vile vaccine doses will be personalized for each patient based on the patient’s tumor. In other words, the vaccine is specific to each patient and cannot be administered to anyone else.

How does the Vaccine Work

The newly developed cancer vaccine uses mRNA technology based on neoantigen data of the patient's tumor. Alexander Gintsburg stated that the vaccine targets cancer cells specifically and inhibits their growth and spread in the patient's body.

Russian Ministry of Health Radiology Medical Research Center director Andrey Kaprin stated that pre-clinical trials have shown very good results. The pre-clinical studies determined that the vaccine halts the progression of cancer, which will allow for its use in treatment.

Vaccine Development Since 2022

Reports have claimed the development of this cancer vaccine started in mid-2022, Russia had been doing the research on mRNA for cancer treatments for years. According to the RT, the Russian Ministry of Health has already approved the rollout of the vaccine due to successful human trails, and substantial evidence the vaccine works. This vaccine is aimed to provide hope to these patients, many of whom cannot afford the exorbitantly priced cancer treatment options available.

Vaccine Available for Free in 2025

If successful human tests are confirmed, the vaccine rollout is planned for early 2025. Free of charge, to citizens of Russia. If patients can receive this vaccine, the burden not only on patients, but also their families, may lessen financially, and help improve the accessibility of treatment for cancer patients across the country.

The vaccine is being developed by both the Hertson Research Institute and the Blokhin Cancer Center, two leading oncology institutes, while the Gamaleya Center has the production of the vaccine. With the full endorsement of government, approval should happen quickly, as soon as clinical results support it.

What Happens Next?

The upcoming human trials will be crucial to the vaccine's verdict. If the tests demonstrate that the vaccine is both safe and effective, that will go down in history as one of the more significant medical breakthroughs in recent history. Experts believe that if such targeted therapies succeed, they would allow individuals to be more productive as cancer patients, by improving their rates of survival but also allowing them to utilize other, less aggressive and painful cancer treatments.

For millions of cancer patients and their families, Russia's vaccine is new hope - of a future where cancer can be managed better, at a lower cost, and without so many complications.
